Boards & Commissions

The City has a number of boards and committees comprised of volunteers from our community and staff liaisons. Here are the current openings:

Beaufort Housing Authority Board of Commissioners

The Beaufort Housing Authority is seeking applicants for their Board of Commissioners.  The Mission of the Beaufort Housing Authority is to provide quality affordable housing to low and moderate income families and individuals in a safe community environment and to assist those served to achieve self-sufficiency.  

The City of Beaufort has three (3) member seats on this Board.  This Board meets on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at 5:00 pm. 

Candidates must either live, own property, or own a business in the city limits.

Cultural District Advisory Board

The City is seeking to fill a vacancy on the Cultural District Advisory Board (CDAB). The board is looking for an at-large member who lives or works in the Cultural District. Design Review Board

The City is seeking to fill one upcoming available seat on the Design Review Board.  The board is looking for an At-Large member.  Members must be a resident of the city, own property in the city, or own or operate a business in the city.   Interested citizens can complete a Boards and Commissions application at the bottom of the page.   

Historic District Review Board

The City is seeking to fill one upcoming available seat on the Historic District Review Board.  The board is looking for those with an interest, competence, or knowledge of historic preservation.  Members must be a resident of the city, own property in the city, or own or operate a business in the city.   Interested citizens can complete a Boards and Commissions application at the bottom of the page. 

Metropolitan Planning Commission 

The City is seeking to fill one upcoming available seat on the Metropolitan Planning Commission (MPC).  This seat will be for a resident of the city, owner of property in the city, or operates a business in the city limits.  The MPC prepares and periodically revises the comprehensive plan.  Takes action on street names, cluster development and Planned Unit Development master plans.  A full description of duties can be found on the Metropolitan Planning Commission page.   Interested citizens can complete a Boards and Commissions application below.  

Zoning Board of Appeals

The City is seeking to fill two upcoming available seats on the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBOA).  These seats will be for at-large members who are residents of the city, own property in the city, or operate a business in the city limits.  Interested citizens can complete a Boards and Commissions application below.
