A person wishing to make a formal complaint against an employee of the Beaufort Police Department must pick up a complaint package from the department located at:
1901 Boundary St., Suite 102 Beaufort, SC 29902
The package must be filed out completely, signed and notarized and delivered to the Police Department. (Note: It can be notarized at the Police Department.) The form must be completed and returned to the department within 15 days of being issued.
The department’s internal affairs procedures are intended to be internally consistent, realistic, and provide due process protection for the complainant and the accused. Lt. Richard Poole is responsible for conducting formal internal affairs investigations.
