CONSTRUCTION NOTIFICATION GREENLAWN DRIVE STREETSCAPE PROJECT

 (BOUNDARY STREET [US 21] TO: GREENLAWN CIRCLE)

The City of Beaufort would like to notify all residents and business owners along/adjacent to Greenlawn Drive, that the scheduled Greenlawn Drive Streetscape Project is progressing as planned. Pre-construction preparations began the week of May 6th, 2019 and construction will commence in earnest the week of May 13, 2019. Completion of this project is projected for November 2019. 

The scope of work for this major streetscape improvement project consists of: tree trimming/removal and clearing of vegetation within the right-of -way; removal of existing pavement and driveways; removal of overhead electrical and utility lines; installation of an underground duct bank housing all utility lines; storm water drainage installation; upgrading of the water and sewer infrastructure; and relocation of specific gas lines. Additional improvements include on street parallel parking; sidewalks; new streetlights; landscaping; and new curbs, driveways, and asphalt pavement. 

As with any public construction project, there will likely be some inconveniences experienced by the residents and merchants along/adjacent to Greenlawn Drive during the various stages of construction. However, you will have daily access to your homes and businesses throughout this project. The contractor, Preferred Materials, Inc., and the City of Beaufort are dedicating the necessary resources to complete the project with the least amount of disruption reducing any inconveniences to you. When the contractor is operating in the vicinity of your home or business, please ensure that vehicles are not parked on the street, and your children and pets are kept away from the work area for their safety and the safety of the work crews. 

The cost of the of the project is being borne by the Greenlawn Drive Streetscape Project along with the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). So, there is no cost to you. Additionally, you will be notified throughout the project regarding its' progress on the City of Beaufort official web site and Face Book page.
