Jan. 14, 2021
Ladies and Gentlemen:
Please see the two maps that detail work through Jan. 22 in Basin I (vicinity of the Duck Pond) and Basin II (vicinity of Southside Park).
Basin 1
We’ve enjoyed another week of decent weather, and so construction has moved along nicely. This week the sheet pile cap has been completely installed, and the Spanish Moss Trail is being prepared for repaving. The SMT preparation work will take a few days, but following that and contingent on the weather, concrete will be poured. Finishing work was also done along Battery Creek Road and First Blvd. Pipe has been ordered and should be delivered to complete the drainpipes between North Royal Oaks and Battery Creek Road within two to three weeks.
We are happy to report that we now have a fully functional and improved drainage system in Basin 1.
Next week, preparing the Spanish Moss Trail should be completed and readied for a new walkway. Weather contingent, all sidewalks on First Blvd and Battery Creek should be completed. The final leg of ditch-grading work from Coates Lane to West Royal Oaks is scheduled to be completed immediately following work on the Spanish Moss Trail.

Basin 2
We’re waiting for the contractors to arrive back to Beaufort to complete the finishing work, particularly in the Lawton Farm Road area. We estimate a week’s worth of work is left to be done. The coffer dam that was removed from Basin 1 is being installed in Basin 2 in the vicinity of Riverside Drive, and 50% of it is in place. Soon finishing work will be done on the steel sheet wall; the tidal flap gates will be installed, which will allow us to reopen the Spanish Moss Trail.

Safety!
A special thanks to everyone for contributing to another week of perfect safety. Please continue to be careful when transiting the area. We appreciate the work of our law enforcement partners, particularly the Beaufort Police Department.
