Ladies and Gentlemen:
Please see the two maps that detail work in the next week in Basin 1 (vicinity of the Duck Pond) and Basin 2 (vicinity of Southside Park).
Basin 1
The drainage project in Basin 1 is substantially complete. The drainage system is performing exactly as designed. For instance, during the recent heavy rains, the system processed in excess of 2.5 inches of rain within a 24-hour period with no difficultly. That said, there are some additional, minor supporting items that remain to be completed. Residents can expect additional work in and around the Duck Pond area, Battery Creek Road, Coates Lane, and North Royal Oaks.

Basin 2
Work on the drainage system on the Spanish Moss Trail between Riverside Drive and Brotherhood Lane continues to advance. All drainage infrastructure running under the Spanish Moss Trail has been installed. This week, three tidal flap gates were successfully attached to the drainage system and the trail has been backfilled. Next week, the temporary coffer dam will be removed the trail will be repaved and opened. It is anticipated that a fully functional and brand-new drainage system will be activated sometime next week.

Safety!
We’ve enjoyed another perfect week of safety. Just like last week, Dominion Energy is working in the entire Mossy Oaks neighborhood to remove trees that interact with the power lines. While Dominion Energy’s efforts are not tied to the Mossy Oaks Drainage Project, they will have heavy machinery and trucks in the area. Please allot extra time when transiting the area and remember that if you cannot see heavy machine operators, they cannot see you.
