Sergeant  King was born  in Lancaster, CA, .  In December of 1997 he joined the United States Marine Corps. During his military career, he spent one year in Japan and three years on the Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort. After leaving the Marine Corps in 2002, he went to work the Beaufort County Detention Center until he was hired by the Beaufort Police Department in January of 2003. Sergeant King was promoted to the rank of Corporal in August 2005 and then to Training Sergeant in March of 2006.
