He is a native of Orangeburg, South Carolina and has lived all over the country as result of being in a military family.  He is married and has a son and daughter. Lt. Carson was a crash fire fighter  in the U.S. Air Force and took part in Operation “Just Cause” (Panama, 1989) and Operation “Desert Shield/Storm” (Saudi Arabia, 1990-1991). After leaving the military, he was employed with the Orangeburg Department of Public Safety as sergeant over traffic enforcement and canine sections.  Lt. Carson  has a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Criminal Justice Management,  Associate Degree in Public Service/Criminal Justice, an Emergency Medical Technician-Basic Certification, status as an adjunct  instructor with  the  South  Carolina   Criminal   Justice    Academy,  is a  Traffic Collision Reconstructionist, a NHTSA Advanced D.U.I. Detection Instructor. Lt. Carson was hired by the Beaufort Police Department in May, 1999 and in May of 2001, was promoted to Operations Supervisor (1^st Sgt.).  In August of 2004 he was promoted to the position of Training Officer for the department. In  June of 2006 he was promoted to his current rank.
