Lieutenant Robert Carson

He is a native of Orangeburg, South Carolina and has lived all over the country as result of being in a military family. He is married and has a son and daughter. Lt. Carson was a crash fire fighter in the U.S. Air Force and took part in Operation “Just Cause” (Panama, 1989) and Operation “Desert Shield/Storm” (Saudi Arabia, 1990-1991). After leaving the military, he was employed with the Orangeburg Department of Public Safety as sergeant over traffic enforcement and canine sections. Lt. Carson has a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Criminal Justice Management, Associate Degree in Public Service/Criminal Justice, an Emergency Medical Technician-Basic Certification, status as an adjunct instructor with the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy, is a Traffic Collision Reconstructionist, a NHTSA Advanced D.U.I. Detection Instructor. Lt. Carson was hired by the Beaufort Police Department in May, 1999 and in May of 2001, was promoted to Operations Supervisor (1st Sgt.). In August of 2004 he was promoted to the position of Training Officer for the department. In June of 2006 he was promoted to his current rank.
