One of the most difficult jobs I have is to keep the City of Beaufort as attractive as possible. The purpose of our sign ordinance is, "to protect and promote the public health, safety and welfare, and to enhance the physical appearance, natural beauty and historical significance of the City." I can not do this alone. So, I'm requesting your assistance in regards to the section of the sign ordinance that directly apply to realtors. There are many violations you may not be aware of.
I'm tasked with enforcement of the sign ordinance, not only to benefit our large local community and tourists, but to benefits buyers, sellers and realtors as well, all who make up this community. How? By initiating enforcement actions brought to my attention by realtors or home owners attempting to sell, rent or lease a house, apartment or land.
Many of my enforcement actions are a direct result of inquiries from real estate agents, rental agents, and property management offices, in order to abate violations in the area where they are attempting to sell, lease, or rent property. Many of you can not sell, lease or rent a house, because of negligence, due to surrounding property owners. This is where I come in and attempt to have these property owners comply with our littering and abandoned vehicle ordinances in order to avoid judicial actions.
I am requesting you read the sign ordinance and comply with each section that applies. These include the following sections:
I would like to thank you in advance in helping me keep Beaufort beautiful. If you have any questions, or think of anything I may be able to add to this website to assist you, please email me with your inquiries.
Thank you
