Mission and Overview

The City of Beaufort Municipal Court is responsible for the adjudication of all misdemeanor offenses/violations of the City and State laws. These offenses are subject to a fine not exceeding $500.00 or imprisonment not exceeding thirty (30) days, or both, and which occur within the city limits of Beaufort. Municipal Court is a summary court under the authority of the unified court system of the State of South Carolina.

The Judges and the staff of the court will ensure everyone receives professional, efficient and impartial justice.

Court sessions are held every Monday and Thursday night and begin promptly at 6:00 PM in the Beaufort County Courthouse. These trials are commonly referred to as Bench Trials and are heard before the judge alone. Trials by jury are normally scheduled on a quarterly basis. All court sessions are open to the public.
