As is required by local, state and federal laws, the City of Beaufort participates in the effort to reduce the waste stream into our landfills through recycling. Each day recycling items are collected by City crews. Citizens are required to place their "blue" recycling bin at curbside by 7:00 a.m. on their designated day for collection. Currently, the City recycles the following items: glass jars and bottles (green, brown & clear), newspapers (clean and dry - they should also be bundled or bagged), PET and HDPE plastic bottles (soda bottles, milk jugs, water jugs, bleach jugs, shampoo, colored plastics #1 or #2), beverage and food cans made of aluminum and tin (cans should be completely empty rinsed with lids removed), magazines and catalogs, fiberboard (cereal boxes, etc. - with wax inserts removed, corrugated paper (cardboard, moving boxes, with insert papers removed - cut or folded into 2' x 2' squares). It is our goal and motto to "KEEP BEAUFORT BY THE SEA, BEAUTIFUL!", so DON'T litter and DO recycle! Your recycling charges are on your BJWSA invoice. The charge is $3.00 per month for service. Recycling staff includes: James B Ware, Jr
