Downtown Marina H-Dock Demolition and Replacement

This is the weekly update on the H-Dock demolition and replacement project:


2017

April 28

  1. O’Quinn Marine Construction and McSweeney Engineering delivered an on-time, on-budget project.
  2. Following a thorough walk-through inspection that included O’Quinn Marine Construction, McSweeney Engineering, Griffin Enterprises Incorporated and the City of Beaufort, the H-Dock is deemed fully operational and ready occupation.  The City of Beaufort accepted this newly constructed dock from OMC following consensus agreement by all parties.
  3. This project supports goals 1 &3 found in the City’s Strategic Plan 2017-2019.  Please see the picture below:


April 21

  1. The docks are installed and secured.
  2. The new 30ft gangway and transition plate are installed.
  3. The Pile guides and cleats are installed. 
  4. The electrical is complete and the barge with the old floats has departed and being disposed.
  5. This is an on-time & budget project thus far, pending power and water pedestal installation.
  6. This project supports goals 1 &3 found in the City’s Strategic Plan 2017-2019.

April 14

  1. On Monday, April 10th, the electrician removed the old wiring from the old dock.
  2. On Wednesday, April 12th, demolition began and the newly acquired floats arrived by barge to the Waterfront Park Marina.
  3. On Thursday, April 13th , the old dock was completely demolished and the new dock has been substantially constructed. 
  4. Today, Good Friday April 14th, the conduit for the electrical services is being installed.  Next week, construction continues along with an infrastructure build.
  5. This project remains on track for an on-time & budget for delivery no later than the first week in May.
  6. This project supports goals 1 &3 found in the City’s Strategic Plan 2017-2019. 
  7. The next project update will be sent out on April 21st
  8. Besides demolishing the old dock and installing the new H-Dock, OQuinn Marine Construction removed unrelated debris from the Marina.  Overall, this project is proceeding exactly as planned.  Please see the pictures below.

April 7

  1. On Monday, the electrician will remove all wiring from the old dock.
  2. On Wednesday, the newly acquired floats will be transported, via barge, to the Waterfront Park Marina.
  3. On Thursday and Friday, the old dock will be demolished and the new dock will be installed.
  4. This project remains on track for an on-time and budget for delivery no later than the first week in May.
  5. This project supports goals 1 & 3 found in the City Strategic Plan 2017-2019.
  6. The next project update will be sent out on April 14th.
  7. In somewhat related news, QQuinn Marine Construction removed the submerged boat from the Marina on Thursday, March 30th.  As many may recall, this was a boat that sunk as a result of Hurricane Matthew.  Below is a picture that speaks for itself.


March 24

  1. No new information on H-Dock this week.  Project remains on time and on budget.
  2. Of note, the new floats will be received beginning the week of April 4th.  Concurrent with receipt of the new floats, the removal and disposal of the old floats will also occur.

March 17

  1. Above is the drawing which reflects what the soon to be constructed H-Dock will look like.  While loosely similar to the soon to be demolished H-Dock, this one will feature complete water and electrical service along with a redesigned gangway and fingers.
  2. OQuinn Marine Construction (OQM) was selected to construct the H-Dock and Dave McSweeney was chosen as the Engineering Consultant.
  3. This project remains on track for an on-time and budget for delivery no later than the first week in May.
  4. This project supports goals 1 & 3 found in the City's Strategic Plan 2017-2019.
  5. The next project update will be sent out on March 24th.
