The mission of the City of Beaufort's Finance Department is to demonstrate fiscal accountability to all of the City's constituents in an efficient and effective manner through the promotion of sound fiscal management, delivery of quality services, products and programs through innovative business solutions and support to the Governing Body and Management toward the achievement of the City's Mission.
The Finance Department is responsible for receiving all monies belonging to the City, paying all bills owed by the City when approved by the proper authority, depositing funds in a bank designated by City Council, make statements of financial conditions of the City as ordered by the City Manager, keep account of all monies and accounts and report to the City Manager, issue all licenses and perform other duties as may be required by the City Manager and City Council (City Ordinance Sec. 1-4033).
As such the City's Finance Department oversees a number of functions including:
- Accounts Payable
- Accounts Receivable
- Central Cashiering
- Business License Activity
- Information Technology
