Boat Operators Training:

The Beaufort Police Department takes water and boating safety very serious.  The Department has certified police boat operators that began their training by attending the Power Squadron's basic boater's class. These officers then attended a forty-hour class presented by the S.C. Department of Natural Resources, "Marine Law Enforcement." This class involves boater's safety,  boat handling, trailering, BUI detection and enforcement, equipment and registration laws, boarding, wake violations and search and rescue coordination.
