Judge Ralph Tupper
Judge Ralph Tupper has served as a part-time judge since 1987. He is also a partner with the Beaufort firm, Tupper, Grimsley and Dean, P.A., and is a much sought after mediator and arbitrator. Super Lawyers listed Judge Tupper as as one of the top attorneys in South Carolina in 2011.
A native of Montclair, New Jersey, Judge Tupper received his undergraduate degree from Newberry College in 1970 and his law degree from the University of South Carolina in 1974.
He has served as Dean of Admissions at the University of South Carolina School of Law and as a clerk for the United States Tax Court. He is President-Elect of the Charleston Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates for 2011-12.
Judge Mary Sharp
Judge Mary Sharp has served as a part-time judge since May, 2000. She has her own firm, Sharp Law Firm, LLC, where she represents individual and corporate clients in a wide variety of civil litigation matters.
Judge Sharp received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from North Carolina State University in 1990, and her Juris Doctor from the Wake Forest University School of Law in 1993. She has also taught introductory law, ethics, legal research and writing classes to paralegals in training at the Technical College of the Lowcountry in Beaufort. She is a certified mediator. In 2010, Judge Sharp was invited to become a Member of the American Board of Trial Advocates.
In 2009, she was honored as one of 10 South Carolina "Leaders in the Law" by South Carolina Lawyers Weekly in their inaugural year of presenting the awards.
In addition to her legal community leadership roles, Judge Sharp is active in the greater Beaufort community. She has served on the boards of Lowcountry Legal Volunteers, the Historic Beaufort Foundation, The Surgery Center of Beaufort, Broad River Healthcare and the Friends of Caroline Hospice.
