Operations Division

The City of Beaufort Fire Department operates out of two fully manned fire stations which are strategically located throughout the city to minimize response times. Our department is a combination fire department in that we utilize both career/paid firefighters as well as volunteers from the community, and we currently maintain a roster of 35 uniformed career personnel and an average of 25 volunteers.

Along with our Operations Division, we also have:

An Administration Division with 2 full time personnel, which oversees the daily administrative operations as well as issuing city outdoor burning permits.

Our Fire & Life Safety Division oversees the inspection and pre-incident survey programs, the Public Information program along with our aggressive Public Education program.

At a minimum, our firefighters receive the basic training and qualifications in the following areas:

  • NFPA Firefighter II
  • Hazardous Materials Operations
  • Emergency Medical Responder
  • Arson detection for the 1st Responder
  • Emergency Vehicle Driver Operations
  • Pump Operations
  • Automobile Extrication
  • L/P Flammable Gas Firefighting
  • Basic Rope Rescue

Also on our staff we have firefighters who have been trained to the level of Hazardous Materials Technician and all certified Emergency Medical Responders. Several of our firefighters serve on regional and state wide USAR and Hazardous Materials response teams.
