BEAUFORT, S.C. (Sept. 28, 2022) – City of Beaufort offices will close on Thursday-Friday, Sept. 29-30, in anticipation of possible impacts from Hurricane/Tropical Storm Ian.
Municipal Court will also be closed. Anyone with a court case scheduled will be contacted for rescheduling.
Capital Waste Services says that it expects to conduct normal Thursday trash and recycling pickup services. We will let the public know through our social media pages what Capital Waste plans to do on Friday once a decision has been made.
The unveiling of the new art benches – part of the Cultural District’s Art Bench Project – will be postponed from Sept. 29 to 5 p.m. Oct. 13.
City officials urge our residents and businesses to be prepared for this storm, and to take every precaution as the storm comes ashore. The major impacts from the storm – including storm surge, heavy rainfall and strong winds -- are expected to take place from late Thursday through early Saturday.
The City is posting frequent updates on its Facebook, Instagram, and Nextdoor pages. The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is the lead agency for emergency management in Beaufort County, and residents are encouraged to follow those social media pages and sign up for Nixle alerts from the Sheriff’s Office.
