BEAUFORT, S.C. (Aug. 23, 2023)  –  Benjamin T. Coppage of Coppage Law Firm, LLC, was appointed attorney for the City of Beaufort on Tuesday, Aug. 22, at City Council’s Regular Meeting.

“It’s an honor to have the opportunity to support the elected officials and staff who are dedicated to the preservation, progress, and promotion of Beaufort,” Coppage said.

Mayor Stephen Murray said, “We look forward to working with Ben. He’s proven himself as an experienced lawyer in many areas of the law where we require sound legal counsel, and we are confident he is the right choice to serve as City Attorney.”

Coppage earned his Juris Doctor in 2009 from Mercer University Walter F. George School of Law. He graduated from Clemson University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management. He has been practicing law since 2009 and founded Coppage Law Firm in 2016.

He is a board member and past chairman of the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce; chairman of the Defense Community Partnership Taskforce; board member of the Beaufort Community Sailing and Boating organization; and moderator of the First Presbyterian Church Diaconate.
