Murray resigns; McFee is acting mayor of Beaufort

BEAUFORT, S.C. (Sept. 15, 2023) – Stephen Murray has resigned from his position as mayor of the City of Beaufort, effective today, Sept. 15, 2023. Michael McFee, Mayor Pro Tem, under the Beaufort Code of Ordinances, is the acting mayor until a new mayor is installed by way of a special election. The special election is expected to be held on Dec. 12, 2023. Details regarding the filing period will be forthcoming.
