Beaufort Jasper Water & Sewer Authority continues its work in various areas of Beaufort to replace galvanized pipes in the water system.
These pipes are known to corrode over time and create water quality and pressure issues. BJWSA has a massive, multi-year project to replace these galvanized pipes throughout our entire water system with PVC pipes.
So far in Beaufort, Emmons Street has been completed. Laudonniere Street, Van Horton Street, Church Street, LeChere Street, and Pine Court North are being finished at the time of this publication. Remaining sections of street for construction this summer include Calhoun Street, Harrington Street, North Street, Whitfield Street, Capers Street, and Center Drive West.
In the fall, design will start on the next set of streets with construction to follow next spring. All of these projects include new PVC water mains, fire hydrants, water services, and meter boxes. The replacement of water service lines to customers is provided only to the meter. BJWSA will not be replacing any water services on private property between the meter and the house.
