BEAUFORT, S.C. (Jan. 20, 2025) – The City of Beaufort will close all non-emergency operations at 1:00 pm tomorrow and remain closed on Wednesday. A decision on normal business operations beyond Wednesday depends on the evolving storm track and effects.
Winter weather tips:
- Check on your vulnerable neighbors, friends and/or family to ensure they're prepared for weather changes.
- Bring your pets inside. If they're too large to come indoors, make sure they have adequate shelter, access to extra food and fresh water.
- Make sure to insulate your pipes. You can also leave faucets dripping and leave cabinet doors open during the cold overnight hours to prevent issues.
- To protect your plants, bring them indoors. If that's not possible, you can cover them with sheets preventing the frost from coating them.
A cold weather shelter will be open for those in need:
Sea Island Presbyterian Church (81 Lady’s Island Drive, Beaufort)
Open: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights (Jan. 19 – Jan. 22) at 5 p.m. and closes at 8 a.m. the following morning
We strongly encourage everyone to avoid unnecessary travel during this time. Staying off the roads, unless absolutely essential, will help ensure the safety of all and facilitate the efforts of our emergency services.
The City will continue to actively monitor the weather conditions and road conditions to provide timely information.
