BEAUFORT, S.C. (June 12, 2024) – City of Beaufort offices will be closed on Wednesday, June 19, in honor of Juneteenth, a federal holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans.
Trash pickup and recycling that is normally scheduled for Wednesdays will not be interrupted.

The Robert Smalls Men & Women of Action 4th Annual Juneteenth Freedom Day: 3-8 p.m., Saturday, June 15, 634 Campground Road, Yemassee. This will be a day of cultural performances, historical exhibits, and community dialogues.
A Juneteenth Celebration of Freedom: 12-6 p.m., Saturday, June 15, Penn Center, St. Helena Island. Performances, kids’ activities, arts and crafts, food vendors.
Juneteenth Unity Parade: 2 p.m. Sunday, June 16. Project Freedom 326 will hold a parade to showcase the diversity, neighborhoods, businesses, and organizations across Beaufort. Beaufort City Councilman Mitchell will serve as grand marshal for the parade, which will take the traditional downtown route. A cookout at Washington Street Park will follow the parade. Project Freedom 326 is a group of Gullah community leaders, parents and small business owners championing the celebration of Juneteenth.
