Mission & Vision
The mission of the Fire Department is to provide public safety and emergency services to the City of Beaufort and Town of Port Royal in a way that is woven into the fabric of the community.
The Fire Department will take a customer service oriented approach every time we contact a member of our community. We will provide empathy, understanding, and kindness to everyone we meet.
The Beaufort Fire Department is committed to excellence in every task we undertake. The department is a leader in the fire service profession with quality of service to the community as a priority. We are committed to using partnerships and solving problems in all professional endeavors.
We believe that family must come first -- our individual families and then our Fire Department family. Our families are the driving force behind everything we do. Without the support of family, our firefighters would not be able to provide the level of service demanded by our profession.
We are dedicated to the organization, each other, our families, and the citizens we serve. We are dedicated to working as partners with the community and each other to reduce fires, enhance customer service, and improve quality of life. We are committed to excellence, and strive to provide the highest quality of professional fire service to the community with the ultimate goal of saving lives and protecting property. We are dedicated to our core values.
We provide quality service to our community and assist other agencies to the best of our ability. We are truthful, honest, and dependable in all actions we take. We are committed to proficiency, reliability, and excellence in all aspects of our conduct and performance.
We fulfill our mission by being accountable to our community, our department and to one another. We embrace the ethical standards of our profession by exhibiting a courteous, conscientious, and professional manner in all of our actions.
We are committed to respecting the constitutional rights, liberties, and worth of all members of the community and the department. We respect laws and the democratic process. We do these things with dignity and honor. Because we are entrusted with the private matters of citizens and our peers, we strive to gain and maintain the confidence of those we come into contact with, both professionally and personally. We value life and safety. We are committed to serve and treat all human beings with the utmost sensitivity, compassion, and concern. We value the diversity of people in our community and serve all with equal dedication, respect, and fairness.
We believe integrity is a cornerstone of our profession. We value ethical conduct, public trust, and commit ourselves to personal and professional excellence. We are people of character and principle. We do what is right, even when no one is looking. We are committed to upholding our position of public trust and to conduct ourselves responsibly by maintaining the highest moral and ethical standards. We are uncompromising in our commitment to truth, honesty, and respect in all relationships. We hold ourselves accountable for our actions and inactions, and are open and honest in our dealings with each other. We have the courage to do what is right and to stand against what is wrong.
We must have the ability to execute our plan of action regardless of the obstacles, discomfort, or difficulties that we may have to overcome. Discipline sets the tone and dictates the efficiency by which we excel in the performance of our duties.
We will strive every day to ensure that “everyone goes home." Firefighters face a multitude of risks to save lives and protect their communities. Their courage allows them to willingly take risks so that others can be saved. A different type of courage is required to stay safe in potentially dangerous situations, avoiding needless risks and tragic consequences.
